What to Expect
Before you dive in, here's a quick overview of what this tutorial covers, what it doesn't, and how to get the most out of it.
What this tutorial will get you
By the end of this guide, you'll have a working website running on your own computer. You'll be able to open it in your browser, see it update in real time as you make changes, and build out features at your own pace. This is called local development — it's exactly how professional developers work every day.
You'll also learn the core workflow of vibe coding: describe what you want in plain English, let Claude Code write the code, review it, test it, and iterate.
What this tutorial does not cover
This guide does not walk you through putting your site live on the internet. We'll set up a Cloudflare account (so you're ready), but the actual deployment step — connecting your repo and pushing your site to a real URL — is something we'll do together in our live session.
How to prepare
Complete as much of this guide as you can before the live session. At minimum, try to get through:
- Prerequisites — all the tools installed and verified
- Setting Up Your Project — your repo created and cloned
If you can go further, even better:
- Building Your Site / App — scaffold the project, get a page running locally
The more you have done ahead of time, the more we can focus on the fun parts in the live session — polishing your site, adding features, and deploying it to the internet for the world to see.
If you get stuck
Don't worry about it. Getting stuck is normal, especially if this is your first time using a terminal. Note where you got stuck and we'll work through it together in person. The most important thing is that you try — even getting halfway through the prerequisites puts you ahead of the game.
